Samurai move

It was the "elite of the samurai" who cleared the barren land. The 15th Shogun, Yoshinobu Tokugawa, will retire to Sunpu (now Shizuoka City) due to the Taisei Hokan. At that time, the samurai who belonged to the "elite corps" (later "new program") who worked as a personal guard for Yoshinobu accompanied him and moved to Sunpu together.

From samurai to peasant

Repeated hardships and failures

The Makinohara Plateau at that time was a devastated land that even local farmers did not look at. Above all, the water shortage on the plateau was serious, and there was a shortage of water necessary for daily life as well as water for raising seedlings and replanting. Moreover, it is said that it was a series of hardships and failures at the beginning because it was an amateur group of agriculture who carried out the reclamation. First tea picking
